Waldun premium certigrade no. 3 grade black label shingles. The clear lower portion of the shingle must extend to a minimum of 152mm from the butt. Flat grain and limited sapwood are permitted in this grade.

100 edge grain no flat grain 100 clear no knots or defects 100 heartwood no sapwood this is the highest grade possible and the product is suitable for use in all cedar roof or siding applications. Black label shingles do allow a small amount of tight secure knots and occasional knot holes but to the top third of the shingle so none are visible when fixed. Number 2 red label. Certigrade number 3 grade black label shingles are of a lower grade for applications where an economy product is acceptable. These are highly durable grade 3 western red cedar shingles from canada where they have been used as an exterior building material for centuries particuarly for roofing applications. The certi last label identifies red cedar shakes and shingles which have been pressure impregnated with wood preservatives in compliance with the american wood preservers association c34 standard.
